Checking You Out by Jennifer Chen

“Lizzie Wei is a huge book nerd, and proud of it. And when she realizes there is a mysterious reader who has been checking out all of her favorite books from the library, she can’t help but get a crush on someone she’s never even met. Her friends make it their mission to find Lizzie’s long lost book soulmate and convinces her to leave notes for her crush. But what if the person Lizzie is looking for, isn’t at all what she expects?

Dylan Lin loves reading, secretly anyway. Ever since a bullying incident at his last school, he’s hidden his love of fantasy novels, instead leaning into his jock persona. Now he's the tennis team captain, runs every day, and actively avoids reading. So, when he decides to start volunteering at a kitten nursery, and his super cute co-volunteer Lizzie asks if he likes reading, he says no. He never expects the look of complete and utter disappointment on Lizzie’s face.

Lizzie is certain her secret crush isn’t Dylan. It can’t be! But when he accidentally makes an obscure reference to her favorite book during their volunteer shift, she’s not so sure anymore. Can Lizzie forgive Dylan for lying? And can Dylan be brave enough to be himself?” - taken from Goodreads.

Lizzie enjoys two things in life, fantasy books and cats. When she meets the cute athletic Dylan at the cat's shelter, she is immediately disappointed to learn that he hates to read. In actuality, Dylan loves fantasy novels, but after the extreme bullying he took at his old school, he is determined not to let anyone know about his past.

Lizzie discovers that someone has been checking out her favorite books from the public library. She is determined to find out who they are. The more she works with. Dylan, the more she likes him but Lizzie doesn't know if she can be with someone that isn't a reader. What happens when she discovers who her book soulmate is?

This was a great mysterious fantasy that will suck readers into Maeve’s quest to uncover the truth about her father. Attempting to keep her identity a secret while learning the art of scriptomancy, Maeve beings to fall for the one person who can destroy her plans, A definite read.

Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer (Letters to the Lost book 1)

“Juliet Young always writes letters to her mother, a world-traveling photojournalist. Even after her mother's death, she leaves letters at her grave. It's the only way Juliet can cope.

Declan Murphy isn't the sort of guy you want to cross. In the midst of his court-ordered community service at the local cemetery, he's trying to escape the demons of his past.

When Declan reads a haunting letter left beside a grave, he can't resist writing back. Soon, he's opening up to a perfect stranger, and their connection is immediate. But neither Declan nor Juliet knows that they're not actually strangers. When life at school interferes with their secret life of letters, sparks will fly as Juliet and Declan discover truths that might tear them apart.” - taken from Goodreads.com

This story did pull at my heartstrings and I couldn’t stop turning the pages to see when Juliet and Declan would discover who the other was. Tormented by their grief, these two form an unlikely relationship, anomalously at first. As feelings between the pair grow between their letters and interactions, I was ready for these two to move past their grief. I adored Declan’s friend Rev and I cannot wait to read his story in More Than We Can Tell. I definitely need to read more from this author.

Everything All at Once by Katrina Leno

“Lottie Reeves has always struggled with anxiety, and when her beloved Aunt Helen dies, Lottie
begins to fear that her own unexpected death might be waiting around every corner.

Aunt Helen wasn’t a typical aunt. She was the author of the best–selling Alvin Hatter series, about siblings who discover the elixir of immortality. Her writing inspired a generation of readers.

In her will, she leaves one last writing project—just for Lottie. It’s a series of letters, each containing mysterious instructions designed to push Lottie out of her comfort zone. Soon, Lottie’s trying some writing of her own, leaping off cliffs, and even falling for a boy she’s only just met. Then the letters reveal an extraordinary secret about the inspiration for the Alvin Hatter series. Lottie finds herself faced with an impossible choice, one that will force her to confront her greatest fear once and for all.” - taken from Goodreads.com

Lottie Reaves is dealing with the death of her beloved aunt Helen, the best-selling, well-known author of a series of children’s books about an immortal brother and sister. (Aunt Helen, think J.K. Rowling famous!) With her high school graduation looming, Lottie suffers from severe anxiety and only her best friend Em and Helen know. After the funeral, the family meets with Helen’s lawyer for the reading of her will. Leaving personal effects behind for her family, everyone is shocked when Helen leaves Lottie a series of letters with very specific directions. As Lottie opens each letter, she finds that her aunt wanted to push her out of her comfort zone as well as divulge a huge secret that she had carried around for years. Lottie soon meets the mysterious Sam, who is also devastated over Helen’s death and has a secret of his own. Interspersed with scenes from Helen’s novels, readers will travel along with Lottie as she mourns her aunt’s death.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chobsky

Charlie tells about his freshman year in high school in a series of anonymously written to unknown "friend". Caught on the fringe of life, Charlie is a quiet observer as he deals with first love, family life and the death of his two closest companions with the help of two seniors, Patrick and Sam. Profane language is used as well as lots of references dealing with sex, homosexuality and substance abuse. really for more mature readers but will rank as one of my all-time favorite books.
