The Shadows Rule All by Abigail Owen (Dominions book 3)

The final book in this trilogy did take me a while to get into but once Reven reenters the story, the action begins to pick up. Even through the twists and turns in the fight to stop Eidolon, no one is spared in the journey to the end.

This volume finishes up the manga version of the book Fangirl. I will say that this is an incredible graphic rendition of the book. Well worth the read!

A creepy yet cheesy horror film like thriller that will shock readers by the ending. This book does start off super slow in building the plot and the action really doesn’t start until around chapter five. The best parts of this book are the friendships and Devin trying to repair the bond with her sister Dru.

This book was just as good as the first but I am really hoping there will be a third volume after that ending. I loved the Kate Bush reference. I laughed out loud.

The Dominions trilogy tells the story of Meren who has been raised in secret and trained to be the body double of her twin sister Tabra, the queen of Aryd. Kidnapped while posing as her sister, Meren keeps her true identity a secret while trying to get back to Tabra before it is too late. As she grows closer to her mysterious kidnapper, she discovers that not all as it seems.

I adored this book and immediately picked up the second installment. With another cliffhanger ending, fans will be eagerly awaiting the ending.

The trilogy concludes with The Shadows Rule All, due out on April 2, 2024.

Warrior Girl Unearthed by Angeline Boulley

This book takes place ten years after the events in Firekeepers Daughter in 2014. The main character is Daunis' younger cousin, Perry as she deals with the continuing atrocities over Native American remains and sacred items. Great read but not as hard-hitting as Firekeepers. Daunis and several characters from the previous book play integral roles in this one

This book definitely doesn't suffer from second book syndrome. Even though Wren and Rose go their separate ways for most of the book, the story doesn't slow down. Rose goes on tour with Shen to find support for their reign. Wren goes to rescue their grandmother from Alarik. Both girls find more than they ever bargained for before coming back together. After a few shocking twists and a bombshell of a cliffhanger, readers will be anxiously waiting the conclusion.

This was an incredible story of twin sisters separated at birth after the murder of their parents. Rose is raised as the princess she was born to be while Wren was raised by her witch grandmother in order to take back the crown and avenge the death of her parents. When Rose is kidnapped and Wren takes her place, the true depth of deception in the kingdom unravels.

Will the sisters join forces to take back the throne or do they battle one another for the kingdom?

I didn't like Twinkle as a person as much as I did Dimple and Sweetie. Twinkle is an aspiring film director and the book is written as letters/diary entries to her favorite female directors. The one character flaw I found with Twinkle was her need to move up the social ladder at her high school. Fortunately, she realizes how her life was changing before she did anything really stupid or unforgettable to her new friends.

This book and the ending of the trilogy was absolutely perfect!! I really don’t want to give away any spoilers, so I am going to keep this short. Breathtaking and heart pounding with the action never slowing down. And that was an incredible epilogue. I hate to leave these characters behind.

This book picks up immediately following the ending of Dividing Eden. Andreus is now King of Eden and everyone believes his twin Carys is dead. Carys is actually on the run and as the days pass, her newly discovered powers grow. As both Andreus and Carys uncover the deception of everyone around them, the must learn who they can trust. With a shocking revelation and an ending I wasn’t expecting, this was a satisfying conclusion to the story.

I loved the author’s first book, One of Us is Lying, but her sophomore novel absolutely blew me away. Ellery Corcoran is a true crime fanatic in part to her mother’s twin sister’s disappearance during their senior year homecoming dance. With their mother now in rehab in California, Ellery and her twin Ezra move across the country to live with their Nana in Echo Ridge, a small town full of secrets. With multiple stories and layers of mysteries to be solved, readers will be gripping tightly to their books well after the last line is read.

This book had been on my TBR (to be read) pile since it came out. I finally got around to listening to it when it was the daily deal over on Audible. First of all, this book is not what I expected and I should have known better since it wasn’t my first Shusterman read. Brewster Rawlings is wrongly perceived by everyone at school. He is a loner and when you find out why, your heart will break. The Sternberger family is going through a major crisis of their own. When Brewster, Tennyson and Bronte begin to cross paths, things begin to get infinitely worse before anyone can start to see improvement. Brewster isn’t what either Sternberger twin expected.

Dust Lands Trilogy by Moira Young

Book one - Blood Red Road

Pa believes that he can read the future in the stars but no matter what he ritual he does, the rain doesn't come. Frustrated, Lugh is ready to leave him behind and Saba will follow her twin anywhere. Before they can make any real plans to leave, a terrible dust storm cuts across the lake and heads their way. Lugh and Saba race towards the storm cellar where their father and Emmi await them. Looking for her pet crow, Nero, the twins have to crouch down to keep from being struck by lightning. Saba is thrown off of her feet and Lugh helps her get up. The storm passes and leaves a red haze. Then out of the haze comes five men riding horses.

One of the men is Procter John, their neighbor who briefly visits once a month. They asks him if Lugh was the one born at midwinter and Procter tells them yes and that he has been looking after him like they had asked. The man asks Lugh how old he is and he answers eighteen. The twins know that something is wrong. The man pulls out a bolt shooter and fires at Procter John, striking him dead. Lugh tells Saba to go fetch their Pa but she won't leave him. Go, he yells and heads for the lake while Saba runs to the storm shelter. Pa asks her if they have come and she realizes that he has seen this day in the stars. She runs into the shanty looking for her crossbow and comes out and shakes her Pa. He finally comes to his senses and she sees the old Pa from before her mother died. He tells her that his time is nearly up. He has only been able to see glimpses of the future but that she must stay strong. Lugh, Emmi and others will need her and not to give up. The horsemen have caught up to Lugh and have surrounded him. Saba and Pa take up their crossbows and run to Lugh. They fire and miss while two of the riders have lassoed Lugh. They dismounted and bound his wrists and ankles. Saba and Pa take aim again and another rider turns and fires his bolt shooter. Pa falls and Saba realizes the bolt has gone through his heart. Pa is dead. She runs towards Lugh but her arrows fly wild in her anger. One of the riders fires a bolt that strikes her in her hand. Bound, the riders hoist Lugh onto a horse. Saba screams and begs them to take her as well. Lugh tells her to go back and take care of Emmi. Saba promises Lugh that she will find him as the men ride away with her brother.
